BERA: The government aims to encourage more people from the Orang Asli community to excel in education and business.

Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government under his leadership, through the 2023 Budget, had allocated RM305 million for the Orang Asli community, making it the biggest allocation to improve the community's standard of living.

Ismail Sabri said scholarships were offered, including through Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), to ensure the education standards of the Orang Asli were at the highest level.

"Every year, 10 Orang Asli children will be selected to further their studies at the highest level abroad. We need to realise that to be a successful country, education is the key factor, and the government wants the Orang Asli to do well too," he told a press conference after attending the "Ngeteh Santai Orang Kita" programme at the Kampung Bongkok Orang Asli settlement here today.

Ismail Sabri, who is defending his Bera parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election, said the government also actively organised entrepreneurship programmes for the Orang Asli community.

"To help boost the domestic economy, Orang Asli youths are encouraged to venture into entrepreneurship. The government organises entrepreneurship programmes through related agencies for the Orang Asli.

"The government has set aside a special allocation this year to assist Orang Asli youth entrepreneurs through training programmes."
