BERA: The opposition should be silenced now that Barisan Nasional (BN) has named Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as its prime minister candidate.

He said BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's statement yesterday proved that all BN component parties, including Umno, MIC, MCA and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah, agreed on the matter.

He said this showed that the opposition's claims that someone else would be made prime minister if BN wins the 15th General Election were false and slander.

"The opposition claiming someone else from BN will be prime minister is to confuse voters. They want to create disunity between BN leaders. But Alhamdulillah, the solidarity in Umno and BN remains strong," he said after the Kenduri Rakyat programme in Kampung Bohor Baru, Kuala Bera, here, today.

Present was BN's candidate for the Guai state seat Datuk Sabariah Saidin.

Speaking in Bagan Datuk, Perak, yesterday, Zahid reiterated that Umno vice-president and caretaker prime minister Ismail Sabri remains BN's sole candidate for the prime minister post and there would be no issue if BN is given the mandate to lead the government in GE15.

He reportedly said although he would not be prime minister or have a position in the cabinet, he was still Umno president and BN chairman.

The opposition has been claiming that Ismail Sabri would be sidelined and would not be prime minister if BN wins GE15.
