BERA: Perikatan Nasional (PN) is merely taking advantage and exploiting Pas to canvas for votes in the 15th General Election (GE15), said caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.
He said Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia was more dominant compared to Pas in the PN coalition despite the former being seen as weak in terms of deploying party machinery on the ground.
The Umno vice-president said this was proven when the Pas election machinery was utilised by Bersatu although Bersatu stood only a slim chance to secure victory.
"Even in Johor, which was considered a Bersatu stronghold because the party president used to serve as the menteri besar, PN was defeated during the state election and Pas was dragged into the defeat. The real winners in PN is Bersatu and in Bera, they do not have a strong election machinery and require the assistance of Pas members to campaign.
"Pas has not learnt from the defeats that occurred during the Melaka and Johor state elections when they did not win any seats. Although PN made various promises during the Melaka state election, the coalition was still rejected and Pas became the victim," he told reporters after attending a "Kenduri Rakyat" programme in Kampung Bohor Baru in Kuala Bera here today.
The event was attended by some 500 Kampung Bohor Baru residents who were thrilled to have the opportunity to mingle with Ismail Sabri.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri, who is the Barisan Nasional candidate for the Bera parliamentary seat, urged Pas supporters to be aware of the cunning tactics deployed by Bersatu and called for votes to be instead given to BN if no candidates from Pas is picked in a seat contested by PN.
"If Pas still remains hopeful that Bersatu can bring victory (in GE15) then it might only result in Pas facing defeat," he said.
