GUA MUSANG: Five primary school pupils were injured when the chartered bus they were travelling in skidded and crashed at Km44 Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai here today.

They were travelling with 10 teachers and 25 other pupils when the crash happened about 6.15am.

District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the five sought outpatient treatment at the Gua Musang Hospital.

He added that the teachers and other students, as well as the bus driver and his attendant, were unhurt.

The students and teachers were from Ikhwan Integration Islamic School and were on their way back to Pasir Puteh, after visiting Zoo Negara in Kuala Lumpur when the incident occurred.

"Initial investigations showed the bus driver had lost control of the vehicle causing it to skid to the road shoulder before ramming into some nearby bushes.

"The crash caused five of the 30 students, aged between 7 and 12, to suffer minor injuries. They received treatment at the Gua Musang Hospital," Sik said in a statement.

Police are still carring out investigation into the case under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
