KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian-born surgeon Dr Nur Amalina Che Bakri is now a first time mother to a baby daughter after giving birth at St Thomas hospital, England, last week.

She introduced her daughter named Arabella Mia to the world through a social media posting.

"We are grateful and cherish every second of happiness with the arrival of our little one. We are excited to see what the future holds. Alhamdulillah," she said.

She also shared three pictures of her baby daughter.

Previously, Dr Nur Amalina was in the limelight when she chose British citizenship status for her first child.

However, it was not because she didn't want to give her daughter Malaysian citizenship, but because the difficulties she faced prevented her from giving birth in Malaysia.

She said her daughter will be raised to understand Malaysian culture and language besides being inculcated with Islamic values.

"In the end, It doesn't matter where you live, what passport you hold, they are people with good moral values who can contribute to humanity," she said.

Dr Nur Amalina married an Englishman, Alexander Charles, in a simple ceremony that took place at the Central London Mosque on March 31, last year.
