KUALA LUMPUR: Smallholders will be allocated RM315 million under the 2023 Budget to replace old rubber trees.

This would benefit 387,000 smallholders under the Smallholder Rubber Cultivation Area Development Programme, said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Tabling the 2023 Budget in Parliament today, he said the government would also allocate RM2.6 billion to Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) and Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) as the main regulating agencies for commodities.

"Additionally, the New Income Redevelopment Programme will also be implemented to encourage smallholders to explore new income apart from rubber such as short-term food crops with an allocation of RM40 million."
