KUANTAN: A section of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK) near Bentong remains open to all vehicles despite Km68 of the stretch being covered with floodwaters following heavy rain today.

Anih Bhd, the concessionaires of the KLK and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (ECE1), said Km68 towards Kuala Lumpur (west-bound) remained safe and the fast lane remained open to road users.

"Some sections between Km68 and Km68.1 were inundated following heavy rain, but the water level has receded. The slow lane is still closed for cleaning works, resulting in a minor traffic crawl.

"Road users are advised to adhere to the instructions by Anih staff at the location and be extra vigilant when driving during the rainy weather," it said in a Facebook posting.

Images of the incident were shared on social media, raising concerns among road users.

In March, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail had said the federal government had agreed to upgrade the East Coast Expressway stretch near Lanchang to address the flood issue along the dual-carriageway.
