TUARAN: A Polytechnic college student, who went missing while swimming with his friends at Pantai Syahbandar here yesterday, was found drowned.

The victim, Md Habbibullah Juhadi, 21 was found by the public at 12.16am by the beach, about 700 metres from the last location he was reported missing.

District Fire and Rescue Station chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said they were alerted at 6.55pm yesterday and ten personnel rushed to the scene.

The rescue team was assisted by locals for the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

"The victim was confirmed dead by Health Ministry personnel before the body was handed over to the police for further action," he said.

Abdul Qawie said the operation, which was also joined by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), police, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) and villagers, ended at 1.17am.
