TUARAN: A section of the cliff along the road that connects Kampung Lokos and Kampung Pahu, Kiulu collapsed yesterday.

This led to an immediate closure of KM19.2 of Jalan Pukak-Pahu-Nulu along the Jalan Kiulu-Rondogung route at midnight.

Those using Jalan Kiulu-Rondogung heading towards Ranau have been advised to use alternative routes such as Jalan Tamaparuli-Ranau.

Meanwhile, residents in surrounding areas can also use Jalan Tomis Tiong-Lokos and Jalan Bundu Tuhan.

Public Works Department (JKR) District Engineer Farini Awang said there had been a minor landslide along the route on May 13 after continuous rain. Following that, one lane had been closed.

"At about 5pm yesterday, another landslide occurred at the same location causing both directions to be closed due to safety factors," he said when contacted today.

"Safety cones and hazard signs with reflective lights have been put up in preparation for maintenance works.

"Road users are asked to abide by the instructions and signboards to avoid any untoward incidents," he said.
