KUALA LUMPUR: A teenager who reportedly went missing after leaving his house to perform the Subuh prayers at a mosque in Cheras on Sunday has been found safe at his friend's house in Kedah today.

The teen, identified as Muhammad Al Muizz Almawardi, 16, failed to return home after performing the prayers at the Al Muqarrabin Mosque in Bandar Tasik Selatan.

Acting on information from the public, a team from the Cheras police's Criminal Investigation Department went to Pokok Sena and found the teen safe at his friend's house there.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said preliminary investigations showed the teenager was in good health condition and that the latter did not suffer any injuries when he was found in Pokok Sena.

"Investigations are still ongoing to find out the reason the teenager was at the (his friend's house)," he said in a statement today.

It was reported that police were looking for a teenager who was reported missing when he failed to return to his house after leaving his home to pray at the mosque, which was only 500m away.

Meanwhile, the teenager's father, Almawardi Mohammad, 41, when contacted by Harian Metro, confirmed that his son had been found.

He said police found his son about midnight.

Almawardi thanked everyone who shared his predicament over his missing son on social media.

"Thank you to all who have helped. My son has been found with the blessing of your prayers and help.

"Many media outlets also facilitated by publishing our story. Alhamdulillah (Thank God)," he said.

Almawardi, however, refused to explain what had transpired since the case is still under police investigation.
