KOTA BARU: Malaysians and people in other countries have been praying for five-year-old Rayan Oram, who died on Saturday after being trapped in a well since Tuesday, so that he would be placed in the highest rank of heaven.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (religious affairs) Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary said the Malaysian government, via Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, has expressed its condolences to Rayan's family.

"The unity of Muslims in the world could also be seen when they together prayed for the boy who was trapped for five days in a well in a village in northern Morocco.

"We, in Malaysia, also pray that the boy's family remains patient and accepts their loss as fate," the Pengkalan Chepa MP told reporters after handing over food donations to the less fortunate at UNITI college, here.

Ismail Sabri today expressed his condolences to Rayan's family through a post on his Facebook account. He said it was absolutely heartbreaking to learn about Rayan's tragic death that was confirmed by Morocco's Royal Court.

He said the entire Keluarga Malaysia and himself extended sincere and heartfelt condolences to Rayan's family.

Rayan was trapped in a 32-meter-deep well for five days in his village of Ighran, located in the hills near Chefchaouen, northern Morocco.

Morocco's Royal Court confirmed late Saturday the death of the boy shortly after he was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.
