KUALA LUMPUR: Any political outfit seeking to collaborate with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Johor State Election, including Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA), must first accept the principles and platform of the pact's struggle.

PH Communications Director Fahmi Fadzil believes PH component parties were open to accepting the cooperation if the conditions were met.

He said usually discussions with other political parties will only take place after PH completes the distribution of seats among its components.

PH is made up of PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

"Usually for PH the first step is to resolve the distribution of seats among the component parties and after that, if there is a discussion with any other party then it will take place after that.

"I believe the PH parties are open and the important thing is that any party that wants to work together must agree on the (PH) principles, the path of PH's struggle, it will be the starting point," he told BH, today.

Last week PH Johor said that MUDA in principle had agreed to work with the coalition in the Johor state election.

Its chairman, Aminolhuda Hassan, who is also Amanah Johor chairman said the agreement was reached during discussions with MUDA President, Syed Saddiq Syed Abd Rahman.

Last Saturday, the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar consented to sign the letter of dissolution of the Johor state assembly paving the way for state polls in the state in the coming weeks.

On the selection of candidates for the state polls, the pact's manifesto and the symbol used in the Johor polls, Fahmi said these matters had yet to be finalised as it was still under discussion.

"Johor is a state-level election, so the state PH has long discussed the distribution of seats and other preparations.

"For PH at the central level, we will finalise the decision shortly depending on discussions at the state level," he said.

Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament said PH had learnt from its performance in the Melaka and Sarawak state polls and would strive to create a new momentum in Johor.

He said the situation in Johor was not the same as in Melaka and Sarawak and the pact had a different approach.

"Whatever PH takes cognizance from what had transpired in Melaka and Sarawak. Insya Allah, we will begin with the right step in Johor.

"The situation in Johor is different and what triggered the state election is also different. In Melaka, it was as a result of efforts to change the state government but in Johor, the state government itself dissolved it," he said.
