RANAU: Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) personnel were despatched to rescue a woman at the peak of Mount Kinabalu this morning.

The district Fire and Rescue Department was alerted at 10am about the 24-year-old woman who was suffering from hypothermia while descending from the summit.

"The Mosar team went to the location and gave initial treatment to the victim. She was brought down to Panalaban using the piggyback technique.

"According to the rescue personnel, as the victim was recovering, she wanted to walk on her own and ascend to Timpohon gate with her guide," according to a statement.

The operation ended at 3.10pm.
