KUALA LUMPUR: The government today announced a reduction in the quarantine period for travellers to between five and 10 days starting Monday.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the quarantine period was dependant on the travellers' vaccination status.

He said travellers who had received their booster shots and adolescents aged between 12 and 17 will undergo five days of quarantine.

"As for fully vaccinated travellers who have yet to get their booster shots, they are to be quarantined for seven days.

"Partially vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers, will be quarantined for 10 days," he told a press conference held in Parliament today.

All travellers, however, are still required to undergo a real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test two days before their departure and on the day of their arrival into the country.

Meanwhile, Khairy said travellers under quarantine will no longer be required to wear pink wristbands.

Instead, they will be given a digital home surveillance order.

"However, for travellers returning from high-risk countries and undergoing home quarantine, they will be required to wear digital tracking devices."
