KUALA LUMPUR: The first Cabinet meeting in 2022 which took place in Putra Perdana, Putrajaya, this morning did not discuss the issue of Cabinet reshuffle.

Instead, the weekly ministerial meeting focused on flood and post-flood management issues as well as the postponement of umrah for Malaysian pilgrims due to the spread of the Omicron variant in the Holy Land.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Legal Affairs), Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the meeting did not discuss the Cabinet reshuffle which was first broached a few days ago.

"It didn't arise," Wan Junaidi told BH today.

Yesterday, speculation was rife that three Ministers would be dropped from the cabinet.

Three names linked to the speculation are Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions), Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad; Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun and National Unity Minister, Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique.

Yesterday, Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob refused to entertain speculations of a Cabinet reshuffle.

He stressed that the focus of the government was to address the floods and post-flood matters as well as measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
