KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry found more than 70 new communicable diseases related to the floods today.

Out of 78 cases detected, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 53 cases were acute respiratory infections, skin diseases (17), and Acute Gastroenteritis (4).

"The remaining four cases are two hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) cases and another two conjunctivitis," he said in a statement today.

As of today, 121 flood relief centers are still operating in flood stricken states.

A total of 19,099 individuals were affected by the flood and 434 victims tested positive to Covid-19 with 14 cases in the flood relief centres.

Only one cluster was detected so far consisting of 10 cases at the relief centre.

"However no new Covid-19 cluster was detected at the relief centres," he added.
