SETIU: Continuous heavy rain over the past 16 hours forced 45 people from 10 families to evacuate their homes as at noon today.
In Kuala Nerus, 24 people from five families were evacuated to the Sekolah Kebangsaan Kompleks Mengabang Telipot flood relief centre since 4pm yesterday.
In Setiu, the first flood evacuation centre at Balai Raya Kampung Bari Besar was opened at 8am today to shelter 16 people from four families while another centre at Masjid Chalok Kedai was opened at 9.30am to accommodate victims from another family.
The State Disaster Management Committee secretariat in updating the flood situation in Terengganu said heavy rainfall across the state has not abated.
Agencies involved in flood rescue operations are on alert as the high tide phenomena is expected to occur later in the evening and may affect 37 coastal villages and low-lying areas.
