SEPANG: Eleven flood victims have tested positive for Covid-19 following a screening by the Health Ministry when they were placed at temporary relief centres.

Sepang District Officer Khairi Azali Ibrahim said those tested positive were at the Kampung Datuk Abu Bakar Baginda; Sekolah Rendah Agama (SRA) Dengkil; Dewan Majlis Pengurusan Komuniti Kampung (MPKK) Kampung Gishing; Dewan Orang Ramai Taman Gemilang; SRA Giching; SRA Labu Lanjut and MPKK Giching Community Hall evacuation centres.

He said positive individuals had been moved to the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang, and Hospital Serdang for further treatment.

As of 10am today, he said, 143 residents from Mukim Labu and another 283 from Mukim Sepang had been placed at temporary relief centres.

"The flood has shown some improvement and water in some areas are beginning to recede.

"Flood waters also started to subside in Kampung Giching, Kampung Salak Tinggi, Kampung Ginchang, Kampung Cemperai, and Pusat Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin Ampar Tenang," he said.

Khairi Azali, who is also Sepang District Disaster Management Committee chairman, said flood waters had yet to recede in Taman Dataran Abadi; Labu Lanjut; Labu Warisan Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre and Kampung Sri Tanjong.

Heavy rains on Wednesday evening had inundated several areas in Dengkil and Labu, which also caused the tire banks at Sungai Labu to burst, and caused Sungai Langat to overflow.
