KUALA LUMPUR: Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today reminded Malaysians to put their face masks back on once they have finished their meals in restaurants.

He said there have been many instances where members of the public, once they're done eating, do not wear their masks again.

"Gentle reminder: When you dine in, please put your mask on after you finish eating.

"@KKMPutrajaya (the Health Ministry) is seeing too many examples of people talking after eating with masks off.

"Bila dah habis makan dan mahu sembang pasca makan, pakai semula pelitup muka (When you have finished eating and want to have a post-meal chat, put your face masks on again) #ReopeningSafely," he wrote on Twitter.

His post received many reactions from the public who said they have also encountered a similar situation.

Twitter user @alina_m_ra said; "Many would immediately take off their masks as soon as they are seated and do not even put them on when the waiters come to take orders.

"I've been seeing this for quite some time."

User @amirulmazmi said; "It's all about risk reduction, my man. Sure you might catch the virus while eating but if you can reduce the risk by masking on right after eating, why not."

Another user @cedric_yhy said; "Customers should leave the eating premises after eating and not be allowed to continue to hang around and chit chat."
