KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia continues to register an infectivity rate or R-naught (Rt) lower than 1.0 for Covid-19.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham in a post on Twitter said the country's Rt stood at 0.88 as of yesterday for a third consecutive day.

He said Putrajaya and Negri Sembilan recorded Rt values of over 1.0 at 1.07 and 1.03 respectively.

Perlis reported Rt value at 0.99, followed by Kelantan (0.96), Kuala Lumpur (0.95), Terengganu (0.94), Selangor (0.92), Pahang (0.89), Melaka (0.88), Sabah (0.87), Kedah (0.87), Perak (0.84), Johor (0.83), Penang (0.82) and Sarawak (0.78).

Labuan recorded zero Rt value.

Yesterday, Malaysia reported 7,950 new Covid-19 cases, taking the cumulative number of cases to 2,361,529 since the pandemic struck the nation last year.
