KUALA LUMPUR: Members of parliament have been given about a minute each to verify their pick for prime minister during separate individual audiences with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara here today.

Jempol MP Datuk Salim Sharif said in the session, MPs were told to confirm their candidate based on the name they submitted to the palace yesterday.

"It took about a minute. We were told to introduce ourselves, representing which constituency and to whom we give our support to.

"Each of the MP had a separate audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong," he told Berita Harian.

Salim also confirmed that Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, who is also the Sultan of Perak, was not present at the meeting

Today, 114 MPs from Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional, GPS and Pas, as well as independents were called to the palace for an audience with the King.
