MUAR: Food baskets from government agencies and corporations have been helpful to needy families here during the pandemic.

Atlas Geosurvey Sdn Bhd together with non-governmental organisation Kelab Prihatin Rakyat and the Pagoh Bersatu welfare bureau joined hands to deliver 1,000 packs food to the needy in Gersek, near here.

"Under our Ziarah Prihatin programme, Gersek is the sixth location to receive this aid," said Bersatu Pagoh Welfare Bureau chief Salim Waqiman.

"The contribution by Atlas Geosurvey and Kelab Prihatin Rakyat is much welcomed. We hope to have more private and NGO participation at our next few locations," added Salim.

Young entrepreneur Ahmad Ansar Mohamad, who is Atlas Geosurvey director, helped his Gersek hometown folk by sponsoring 600 chickens to add to the fresh vegetables and fish in the baskets prepared by Ziarah Prihatin volunteers.

Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia Pagoh students, who stayed back for their semester break, were among the volunteers.
