PAGOH: Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) students here are relieved to be able to return home after movement restrictions caused them to be "stranded" at their hostels.

A few of them, however, opted to stay on campus.

Among them are Marilyn Bangi Abell from Sibu, Sarawak who was worried it would be difficult for her to return if she went back home.

Marilyn, who is studying electronic engineering, will help keep the resident halls clean.

Mohd Sharulnizam Mohd Ali Yusoff, a second year diploma in electrical engineering student from Kuala Penyu, Sabah, decided to stay with his uncle in Kuala Lumpur instead.

UTHM Pagoh student head Muhammad Faris Abdul Hadi will remain on campus with about 30 other students to do research for UTHM during the semester break.

For some 80 students leaving campus, Bukit Pasir state assemblyman Najib Lep is paying for their transportation costs.

"Kelantan bound students must take swab tests while those heading to Perak must take their tests once they arrive in the state," said Associate Prof Dr Kamarulzaki Mustafa, UTHM Pagoh Provost and also Technical Management of Pagoh Higher Education Hub chairman.

For students who subscribed to the NSTP e-papers recently, they said it would come to good use at home until they returned to campus on Oct 10.
