MUAR: Food baskets under the Bakul Prihatin Negara programme are being distributed in several areas around the district to the needy.

"This Movement Control Order (MCO) has left many in need of food supplies," said Srikandi Pagoh Bersatu chief Janariah Abu Nawan who distributed the baskets door-to-door with her team as well as Wanita Perikatan Nasional and Suri Prihatin Pagoh squads.

They went around Bukit Pasir, Temiang, Kg Jalan Raja, Permatang Pasir, Kg Jorak and Pagoh, among others.

Janariah also teamed up with Armada Bersatu Pagoh chief Muhammad Shamsuddin Paijan to distribute aid to Kg Sari Baru, Pekan Pagoh, Kg Sri Makmor and Kg Panjang Sari, about 40km from Muar.

"We received the current lists from village heads and immediately organised the squad," said Muhammad Shamsuddin.

Janariah added that some of the houses were under Covid-19 quarantine but needed food on the table.

Meanwhile, Gan Kien Huat, 51, a vegetable farmer at Taman Pagoh Jaya, received food supplies for his family, delivered by Muhammad Shamsuddin Paijan and his team.

Gan said he was thankful for the help.
