PAGOH: Students in higher educational institutions "stranded" in residence halls have received all kinds of aid from well-meaning Malaysians.

For students attending universities and polytechnics at Edu-Park Pagoh here, they also received free one-year NSTP e-paper subscriptions.

Bukit Pasir assemblyman Najib Lep made this possible so that students could refer to and read the latest New Straits Times and Berita Harian news and features to complement their research and assignments.

"As the students are unable to obtain printed news due to the lockdown, e-papers help bring the outside world and national information to them," said Najib.

Najib contributed 100 NSTP e-paper one-year subscriptions for Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Pagoh campus, and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) southern campus, among others.

With three users able to access one e-paper account, 300 students can now read content in English and Bahasa Malaysia

"Students certainly need a reliable source such as NSTP online papers so that they can continue to be well informed," said Associate Prof Dr Kamarulzaki Mustafa, UTHM Pagoh Provost and also Pagoh Higher Education Hub technical management chairman.

Pagoh UTHM student head Muhammad Faris Abdul Hadi said that the help was timely for students.

Also present to receive the contribution from Najib and Kamarulzaki were other student heads, Aiman Muhaimin Mohamad of Pagoh Polytechnic and Muhammad Helmi Mohd Nazari of IIUM Pagoh.
