KOTA BARU: 50 underprivileged people received food donations from the Kelantan Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) yesterday.

The event which was under the MAIK Prihatin programme, was held in Taman Sri Bayam here.

Presenting the donation to recipients was MAIK chief development officer Mohd Azman Ghazali. Also present was Kelantan Indian Muslims Association president Mohamed Sultan Oli Mohamed.

Azman said the programme was organised by MAIK to help the needy affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Today's programme was jointly organised with the association and those in need received food aid which comprised various types of daily essentials to help ease their burdens during this pandemic period," he told reporters after presenting the food aid yesterday.

Azman said MAIK would not be selective in distributing the food baskets worth about RM100 each.

He said this programme would be extended to other districts in stages soon.
