KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak can transit into Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) effective Wednesday.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today decided that Sarawak has met the threshold values of the three main indicators, enabling it to shift to Phase 2 of the NRP.

"Today, after all the agencies, including the Health Ministry examined the threshold value for this state, the NSC has agreed for the transition to take place effective July 14.

"This was decided after the three key thresholds announced earlier had been achieved," he said in a statement.

Ismail Sabri said the implementation of the movement control order has had a positive impact in several states, namely Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang, Perlis, Pahang, Perak, Penang and Sabah, which have successfully transitioned from Phase 1 to Phase 2 of the NRP.

A detailed list of the standard operating procedures in Phase 2 can be found on the NSC website at www.mkn.gov.my.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the NSC meeting also gave the green light for all telecommunications companies' customer service centres in shopping malls and hypermarkets to resume operations under the NRP effective today.

On another matter, he said 514 individuals were nabbed by police for flouting the MCO 3.0 standard operating procedures.

"Of the total, 503 were compounded and the remainder were remanded."

Ismail Sabri said among the offences committed were interstate and inter-district travel without police permission and dining-in at eateries (126); failure to observe physical distancing (104), failure to record details in entering premises (69); failure to comply with movement control order (58); not wearing face masks (55); failure of premises to adhere to orders (13); and other SOP related offences (33).

He said the SOP compliance task force led by police yesterday carried out 78,975 inspections and Covid-19 snap checks nationwide, involving 19,477 personnel.

"The teams also inspected 2,087 factories, 16,086 business premises, 625 construction sites and 448 workers hostels," he said, adding that 17 premises that flouted SOPs were ordered to close.

He said the authorities have also increased enforcement on factories and business premises which were found to be among the highest contributing factors to new Covid-19 cases in the country.

On Op Benteng, Ismail Sabri said authorities seized three land vehicles but no arrests were made at the nation's borders.

Enforcement agencies also jointly mounted 955 roadblocks nationwide through Op Penawar and Op Benteng to ensure SOP's were diligently followed.
