MUAR: Farmers in Bukit Pasir, near here, are struggling as not many people have been buying their vegetables and fruits.

In Kampung Jorak and Tanjung Olak, both villages in Bukit Pasir, crops are producing good yield but there have not been many buyers due to movement controls.

In Tanjung Olak, a 32-year-old brinjal farmer Nazirah Yusof with surplus supply was delighted when Bukit Pasir assemblyman Najib Lep bought her produce in bulk.

"We try to help local farmers by buying their surplus produce. We can then aid the needy by donating these fresh vegetables and other food supplies to them," said Najib.

Nazirah said this has been helpful after many buyers cancelled their orders causing their harvest to pile up.

She thanked Najib and the Tanjung Olak village head who came to her family's aid.
