KUALA LUMPUR: After hitting out at Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, saying his nose will get longer for lying on the vaccine issue in Selangor, state executive councillor Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud has now extended her apology.

In a tweet today, she said Selangor will receive a total of 4,008,710 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine next month, the highest compared to other states.

The Selangor Public Health, Unity, Women and Family Development committee chairman said she was informed of the matter when attending the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) meeting this morning.

The CITF was set up to manage the implementation of the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP).

"I attended the CITF meeting this morning. Selangor will receive 4,008,710 vaccine doses in July. Thank you YB Minister. I will be in your meeting without fail. Praise be to God (Alhamdulillah), your nose did not get longer. (It is) Normal. I apologise in this world and hereafter @Khairykj⁩," she posted on her Twitter account today.

In the same post, Siti Mariah also shared a photo of the vaccine allocation and distribution for July for all states, which showed Selangor having the highest number of vaccines, followed by Sarawak with more than 2,389,582 million doses, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (1,614,421) and Johor (950,618).

Recently, Khairy had explained that Selangor did not have an issue with vaccine supply but faced problems related to vaccination capacity.

However, on Sunday, Siti Mariah said Khairy had failed to understand the current problem, adding that Selangor can do more vaccinations.

"Don't lie by saying there is enough supply. Be truthful or your nose will get longer," she tweeted and tagged Khairy, in an apparent reference to Pinocchio, a character in a children's story whose nose grows longer when he tells a lie.

In a follow-up Tweet she said that if Selangor was discriminated against, the whole country would suffer.
