KUALA LUMPUR: The vaccination rate nationwide continues to increase and is set to meet the target of 200,000 doses to be administered daily.

Based on statistics by the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee (JKJAV), a total 197,963 doses were administered yesterday.

The number was the highest since the implementation of the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) on Feb 23.

Of the total, 142,890 were first dose recipients, while 55,073 were second dose.

Previously, the highest daily inoculation rate nationwide stood at 157,949 doses on June 10.

Meanwhile, a total 4,688,233 doses of vaccine have been administered to date, with 3,275,194 first doses and 1,413,039 second doses.

Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest inoculation rate at 700,566 doses, followed by Selangor (667,743), Sarawak (515,596), Johor (444,971), Perak (376,177), and Sabah (366,453).

JKJAV said a total 13,811,642 or 59 per cent of individuals aged above 18 in the country have registered to get vaccinated via the MySejahtera application.
