KUALA LUMPUR: Free shuttle services will be provided for senior citizens aged 60 and above and persons with disabilities (PWD) in the Klang Valley and Penang to get to their vaccination appointments.

Made possible by GoCar Mobility Sdn Bhd (GoCar Malaysia) under its GoVax programme, the corporate social responsibility programme ends on Aug 31.

Its chief executive officer Wong Hoe Mun in a statement said the free shuttle service would serve those going to Hospital Shah Alam, Klinik Rakan Medik Petaling Jaya and Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre.

For a start, he said the company collaborated with Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lim Yi Wei to serve all old folk homes, senior citizens and PWDs within the Petaling district, including Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, parts of Shah Alam and Kota Damansara.

Meanwhile, Lim said the initiative would ensure that high-risk groups were sufficiently vaccinated.

"GoCar members need to ensure their vaccination appointment are confirmed via the MySejahtera app or text messages beforehand.

"They can then proceed to contact GoVax taskforce at least three days before the scheduled vaccination appointment by calling the 24/7 hotline 1-300-30-2633," Wong said.

Slots are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wong said those who already had their first jab are also eligible for the GoVax free shuttle for their second shot.
