KOTA KINABALU: An enforcement officer has become the case index for Sabah's new Covid-19 cluster dubbed Kompleks Empat, with infection spreading to eight districts.

The 32-year-old individual worked on the fourth floor of the Sabah Federal Govermment Administration Complex here.

State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the man had gone to a private clinic on May 5 and was tested positive after undergoing an interstate travel (Kota Kinabalu to Labuan) screening.

"Close contact screening was then carried out among the colleagues. From the screening, 14 positive cases were detected in Kota Kinabalu and three cases in Tuaran.

"The infection also recorded in Kota Belud (2), Sandakan (2), Papar (2), Putatan (1), Ranau (1), and Penampang (1)," he said.

Today, Sabah recorded 96 new infections and one death in Lahad Datu.

Masidi said the state government had decided to extend the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Felda Umas in Kalabakan until May 25. It was scheduled to end tomorrow.

In another development, the state government ended EMCO at PPR 2 Lorong Habib Abdul Rahman and PPR Batu 8 Jalan Apas in Tawau as well as Kompleks Abedon (Bumiwealth, Kolopis, and Tanaki) in Kinabatangan.
