KUALA LUMPUR: Failure to register before entering a premises made up the biggest number of Covid-19 standard operating procedures' (SOP) offenders.

This category comprised 125 offenders out of the 286 people arrested by the police for violating SOPs, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said other offences were not wearing face masks (54), not observing physical distancing (49), others (36) and participating in activities at entertainment centres (22).

He said 284 arrested were issued compounds while two others were remanded.

Ismail Sabri said the compliance operation task force yesterday conducted 67,137 inspections including at 4,323 supermarkets, 5,269 restaurants, 2,017 factories, 4,102 banks, 4,607 stalls, 2,419 markets/agro-markets and 996 government offices.

He said three illegal immigrants were arrested with five land vehicles seized during Ops Benteng, adding that 271 roadblocks were set up by police, armed forces, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Malaysian Border Security Agency and other relevant agencies.

He said all 1,769 individuals who arrived via international entry points were instructed to undergo mandatory quarantine at designated centres.

On foreign workers' mandatory screenings, he said 230 foreign workers were tested under the programme but none found positive for the coronavirus yesterday.
