KUALA LUMPUR: A 'Datuk', who allegedly trespassed into his neighbour's house and got into a violent dispute over a guava tree in Bukit Persekutuan on Friday, must be brought to book.

Wanita MCA chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie said police must take action against the man for bullying the victim.

"Police should take immediate action against the suspect, regardless of his status and title, so it will serve as a reminder and a lesson to the public," she said in a statement today.

Heng said in line with the government's efforts in combating the culture of bullying targeted at women and children, stiff action must be taken against the suspect in the case.

"Regardless of the situation which transpired between the two neighbours, no one has the right to assault anyone under the law.

"The suspect's pretext of 'teaching' his neighbour can be considered a crime, that challenges the integrity of the police and the rule of law in the country, if indeed it is proven to be true," she said.

Yesterday, it was reported that a woman had lodged a police report against her neighbour, after the man with a 'Datuk' title broke into her house and tried to injure her.

In the 2.40pm incident, the suspect allegedly dragged and physically assaulted the woman, on top of breaking her mobile phone.

The incident was allegedly caused by a note which the victim sent the suspect asking him to trim his guava tree branches which had encroached into her compound.

She claimed the overgrown tree branches had brought insects, rats and bats to her house.

Heng said of late there have been several incidents involving individuals with titles, which showed how some tarnish the titles bestowed to them.

"This indirectly has a negative effect and appropriate action should be taken according to the law to prevent it from setting a bad example and repeating.

"Although the victim herself is a certified lawyer, Wanita MCA is ready to provide her any help needs through our Centre for Legal Services and Women's Assistance (LAWA)," she said.
