RANAU: A public parking near the Kinabalu Park was closed after the area caved in following a landslide, today.

There were no injuries in the 1am incident, and the incident did not affect the main Jalan Ranau – Tamparuli road.

District Public Works Department engineer Mac Glen Frederick Lojuman, when contacted, said the department was alerted at 7.15am and went to inspect the area with the concession company and police.

"It occurred in front of the junction leading to Kinabalu Park and did not affect the main route.

"The collapse is believed to be due to continuous rain a few days earlier and we have closed the area for further action," he said.
