SETIU: The flood situation in Terengganu has taken a turn for the worse, with 9,322 people from 2,316 families evacuated to 46 flood relief centres in four districts.

As at 6pm, Kemaman registered 7,781 people from 1,875 families who have been evacuated and placed at 25 flood relief centres.

In Dungun, 1,201 people from 347 families have sought shelter in 14 relief centres.

In Hulu Terengganu, 228 people from 67 families have been evacuated to four relief centres while in Besut, 112 people from 27 people have moved to three centres.

Terengganu disaster management committee secretariat Chief Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said intermittent rain is still being registered in several locations.

"Water levels in major rivers in the interiors have subsided but we are still on the alert as we expect rivers to inundate low-lying areas downstream," he said.
