SETIU: Floods have forced the evacuation of 2,738 people from 654 families in Kemaman, Dungun and Setiu.

As at 10pm, Kemaman saw 2,575 people from 602 families evacuated to 16 relief centres.

In Dungun, 161 people from 51 families have been evacuated to three relief centres while in Setiu one relief centres was opened to a family of two.

State Civil Defence Force director Lt-Col (PA) Che Adam Abdul Rahman said more areas are expected to be inundated following continuous rain and a high tide phenomenon later tonight.

"We expect more evacuation tonight following the incessant rain but we are ready to evacuate those affected by floods," he said.
