KANGAR: Three Perlis state assemblymen underwent the Covid-19 screening test this morning, as their respective areas bordered Kuala Sanglang which has came under Targeted Enhanced Movement Control Order (TEMCO).

The affected state assemblymen are Nurulhisham Yaakob (Simpang Empat), Mohd Shukri Ramli (Sanglang) and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji).

Nurulhisham when contacted said, the three of them underwent the screening test at 9am today at the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital (HTF) as their supervised areas were located near Kampung Kuala Sanglang and Kampung Tanah Timbul.

"The screening process that we carried out this morning was more of a mandatory procedure as our area borders the TEMCO implementation area and apart from the fact that the three of us as elected representatives regularly meet with members of the public.

"Since the State Legislative Assembly will convene for two days from tomorrow. as such we must undergo the set screening process beforehand," he said.

Shukri said though the TEMCO implemented area was not located near his residence, nevertheless he would still follow the order which was imposed on him.

"It's quite far from my residence (Kuala Sanglang) but my supervised area comes under TEMCO as such, I have to undergo screening.

"God Willing, hopefully the situation will return to normal," he said.

On Saturday, two settlements in Kuala Sanglang, namely Kampung Kuala Sanglang and Kampung Tanah Timbul were subjected to the TEMCO until Sept 4 after Covid-19 transmission from the Sivagangga cluster began to spread in the area.

A total of 872 residents were instructed to undergo Covid-19 screening and were imposed quarantine orders with only the head of the family or the wearer of special bracelets allowed to go out to the local store to purchase daily necessities.
