PUTRAJAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has reinstated all Pakistani pilot license holders in Malaysia with immediate effect.

CAAM chief executive officer Captain Chester Voo Chee Soon said this was due to verification received from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) that all 18 Pakistani pilot license holders currently employed in Malaysia were valid.

Following their license suspension earlier this month, a request was sent to PCAA for the verification of these 18 Pakistani pilot license holders, he said.

"Upon confirmation from PCAA on the authenticity of the licenses, all Pakistani pilot license holders in Malaysia have been reinstated immediately," he said in a statement.

Pakistan was reported to have clipped the wings of nearly a third of its pilots following findings into a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash in May revealed that they might have falsified their qualifications.

Pakistan has 860 pilots with 107 of them working for foreign airlines.

Flight PIA PK8303 crashed when landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi in southern Pakistan on May 22, killing 97 on board.
