KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today wished all Malaysian Buddhists a Happy Wesak Day.

The Prime Minister, in a 118-second televised address, said Wesak Day is the time for all Buddhists to reflect on the fundamentals of tolerance, compassion and service to humanity that are embodied in Buddha's life and teachings.

He said this year's celebration will be different, as Wesak Day is being celebrated while the country is undergoing Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in its effort to stem the outbreak of Covid-19.

"Nonetheless, I believe that all of you (Buddhist devotees) will continue to celebrate it with your family members."

Muhyiddin said by celebrating with family members, it will further foster the relationship with one another.

He said Wesak Day celebration in Malaysia is a testament that religious practices are always respected and appreciated by all Malaysians.

"It gives me a great pleasure to send greetings to all Malaysian Buddhist friends, who will be celebrating Wesak tomorrow.

"I wish all Malaysian Buddhist friends a happy celebration with family and may we all come together and continue to live as one in peace and harmony.

"Happy Wesak Day Malaysia," he said, ending his greetings.

Malaysian Buddhists will be celebrating Wesak, a vibrant festival commemorating the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautama Buddha tomorrow.
