ARAU: The entire state of Perlis is now a Covid-19 green zone, said state Health Department director Dr Sirajuddin Hashim.

He was quoted by Bernama as saying that there were no new Covid-19 cases detected in any of 22 sub-districts in the state since April 15.

“A total of 16 people who previously tested positive for Covid-19 have been given a clean bill of health after they recovered from the virus.

"Only two cases are still under the supervision of the state Health Department,” he said after attending the handing over ceremony of personal protective equipment at the Perlis Correctional Training Centre here today.

He said 20 people who entered the state were still being housed at the Industrial Training Centre and Health Ministry’s Training Institute (Nursing) in Kangar, which were converted into Covid-19 quarantine centres in Perlis.

However, Dr Sirajuddin said the ministry would determine the Covid-19 status for the state soon.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man, however, urged Perlis folk to continue adhering with the Movement Control Order (MCO) although Perlis has been declared as Covid-19 green zone by the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre.

“As of now, the MCO is still being enforced until April 28 until the next move by the Federal Government.

“The enforcement of the MCO is the prerogative of the Federal administration, in which the state government has no right to make demands that are against the directive.”

All economic activities in the state, he said, were also subject to the directives under the MCO which was currently in its third phase.
