PUTRAJAYA: The Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 (WKB 2030) launched by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Saturday reflects Malaysia's commitment in implementing the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 (SDG 2030).

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement today that WKB 2030 aims to provide a fair and equitable distribution of economic development at all levels by 2030, in line with SDG 2030.

"Malaysia has applied the principles of SDG 2030 through the implementation of the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016 to 2020) which ensures no group will be left out or marginalised from sustainable development.

"Therefore, SDG 2030 will continue to be applied in WKB 2030 as the latest long-term plan for Malaysia which will be realised through the 12th Malaysia Plan (2021 to 2025) and the 13th Malaysia Plan (2026 to 2030).

"The launch of WKB 2030 thus reflects Malaysia's continued commitment to implement SDG 2030 in line with the national development phase.

"It will then focus on positioning Malaysia as a competitive and inclusive high-income nation by making the people one of the most important elements of sustainable economic development," it added.

The WKB 2030 has set out 10 key economic targets by 2030.

The Government will also prioritise the nine target groups in the implementation of WKB 2030 to ensure their socioeconomic wellbeing.

The groups are the bottom 40 per cent group (B40), hardcore poor, those economically susceptible, those in economic transition, Orang Asli, Bumiputeras in Sabah and Sarawak, the disabled, youth, women, children and senior citizens.
