KUALA LUMPUR: As former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's corruption trial is set to begin shortly, a small group of supporters were spotted at the Kuala Lumpur court complex lobby, here, today.

Non-governmental organisation (NGO) Gerakan Rakyat Marhaen president Baha Taha who had been attending the former prime minister’s court dates since last year, is confident Najib is not guilty.

“I am here to support Datuk as I believe he is innocent.

“These are all allegations. Personally, he is the best prime minister Malaysia has ever had.

“If they are going to charge him, they also need to charge all the other former prime ministers especially the fourth PM (prime minister) whom i wish not to name,” he said.

Baha who arrived at the court at about 1pm, said more supporters will be coming to show support for Najib.

Meanwhile, special passes to access Najib's corruption trial for the media was issued out in less than an hour.

Local and foreign media personnel were seen queueing up since 12pm to grab the 100 passes allocated by the court.

Court officers handing the passes were seen apologising to the long line of media representatives who were unable to get special passes.

Najib faces seven charges relating to criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and money laundering involving RM42 million of SRC International Sdn Bhd’s funds.

The trial, set to begin at 2pm, will be presided by High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.
