PUTRAJAYA: No Malaysians were injured in the magnitude-5.5 earthquake that rocked Calayan town in Cagayan yesterday.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed this today, and urged Malaysians who were in the vicinity to be cautious and keep track of the developments and local weather report.

“Since the situation is still unstable, Malaysians are advised to consider rescheduling their travel plans to the affected areas and comply with directives issued by the local authorities,” the ministry said today.

“The ministry via the Malaysian Embassy in Manila and the Consulate General Office in Davao, Mindanao, are closely monitoring the situation.

“The Malaysian Embassy is also in close contact with the local authorities for the latest updates and advisories.”
