IPOH: Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran will hold a meeting with Nurul Izzah Anwar soon to discuss her role as the chairman of the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Empowerment Committee.

Kulasegaran said the government is in the midst of developing the TVET industry, and hoped that Nurul Izzah would open up room for her to be involved in the area, despite her having relinquished all positions save for her role as Permatang Pauh member of parliament.

“I will meet her and discuss her position as the TVET Empowerment Committee chairman.

“I will be meeting in her in a week or two. This is being done in the interests of the people, especially the youth. I hope she can open up room for her involvement in TVET,” he told reporters after distributing calendars at the Kampung Tawas market.

On Dec 17, Nurul Izzah pulled off a shock move when she announced her decision to quit as party vice-president as well as all government posts, including her chairmanship of the TVET Empowerment Committee.

Meanwhile, Kulasegaran was also asked on what his ministry has in store for the near future.

“In the last seven months, my ministry has held 15 town hall sessions, with the latest being in Labuan four days ago. These sessions give the people an opportunity not just to meet with the department heads under my ministry, but also me to discuss and raise any potential issues.

“Other programmes which willl be continued include the Kaunter Khidmat Rakyat (People’s Service Counter) in public areas, especially markets, as these are the ideal places to meet the people and find out what their problems are.”
