KUALA LUMPUR: A proposal has been put forth to set up a fund to purchase the land where the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple sits on.

The suggestion was made by tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan, in a bid for the temple to remain where it is, without having to be relocated.

To start the ball rolling, Tan has reportedly pledged RM500,000 to the fund, as reported by the Star Online.

Also pledging RM500,000 is corporate figure and former MCT Bhd chairman Tan Sri Barry Goh.

“We are confident that more Malaysians are prepared to donate to keep the temple. Malaysians are by nature respectful of all places of worship,” Tan was quoted as saying.
