AYER KEROH: The state government will ensure that at least two representatives from Tahfiz centres statewide are enrolled in technical studies, at polytechnics, particularly in the field of electrical wiring.

Chief Minister Adly Zahari who hopes the programme's implementation from next year onwards would not only go towards strengthening education at the Tahfiz centres, but would also ensure safety of the tahfiz buildings in Melaka.

"We are looking at developing Tahfiz centre students, (in the field of education) by carrying out various modules under the National Tahfiz Education Policy framework. This would involve four curriculum modules namely - Tahfiz Turath, Tahfiz Sains, Tahfiz Dini and Tahfiz Kemahiran through the cooperation of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).

"Second, in regards to technical safety aspects, every tahfiz center should have a trained person, especially in in regards to wiring.

"For example, a teacher or manager of tahfiz and a student will be trained at a polytechnic, so they can provide their own wiring services and it will be implemented next year," he said.

Adly said this at a press conference after attending the last day of the state assembly's budget sitting here at Seri Negeri today.

Earlier, in the state legislative assembly, in reply to a question from Datuk Seri Idris Haron (BN-Sungai Udang) on ​​the security aspects of tahfiz centres in Melaka, Adly said that there are 60 private tahfiz centers and another three registered under the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM).

"Overall, there are a total of 303 private Tahfiz teachers , with 3,773 pupils statewide in the districts of of Alor Gajah, Jasin and Central Melaka," he said.
