KUALA LUMPUR: Starting Monday, when customers make a flight or hotel booking on Traveloka, RM1 from the total payment will be donated to Tabung Harapan Malaysia.

Traveloka Country Manager for Malaysia and Singapore Halif Hamzah said the move was to boost the patriotic spirit among Malaysians as the country was approaching Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day.

“When customers make a flight or hotel booking via Traveloka desktop website, mobile website or Traveloka App, all they need to do is add the code ‘MYHARAPAN’ when they reach the payment page.

“Traveloka will donate RM1 from the total payment to Tabung Harapan Malaysia,” he said at the campaign launch today.

The donation campaign titled “Share Your Love for Malaysia” will run until Sept 30.

Present at the launch was Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah.

Asked on the target of the donation campaign, Halif said; “We hope to collect as much as possible to contribute to the country.

“We are sure that many Malaysians wish to show their love for the country, which was why we set up the campaign.”

He added that through the initiative, it will be more convenient for Malaysians to fill two needs- their love of travel and their love for the country.

Meanwhile Amiruddin said such initiative by Traveloka proved that society was concerned with the country’s economic situation.

“Many Malaysians decided to contribute out of a sense of responsibility to help the government restore Malaysia’s economy.

“It is indeed one of the ways to show our love to the country.”

As of yesterday, Tabung Harapan Malaysia, which was launched in early June, has collected a total of RM144.6 million.
