PUTRAJAYA: Can Malaysians expect an Umno presidential debate to be aired on government television station, RTM?

Not a problem, according to Communications and Multimedia minister Gobind Singh Deo.

With Umno presidential hopeful Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah having challenged two other candidates for the president's post to a debate, Gobind was asked by reporters today if RTM would be willing to air the debate live.

Gobind replied that he does not have a problem with providing a platform for the debate to be aired live on RTM.

Tengku Razaleigh, or Ku Li who spoke at an Astro Awani programme challenged acting Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin to a debate in the run-up to the party polls this June 30.

While Ahmad Zahid declined to comment on the challenge when asked earlier today, Khairy accepted it.

“Okay sure, anytime...Obviously, if there is a debate we need to determine who will be the moderator and all that,” Khairy had said at a press conference held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
