BUKIT MERTAJAM: A runner participating in the Larian Santai, Sihat, Cantik (SSC) here today collapsed and died near the finish line in front of SK Bandar Perda.
Baharuddin Jalil, 56, is believed to have suffered a heart attack in the 9am incident.
He was immediately attended to by personnel from the Civil Defence Department, but checks by paramedics at the scene determined that Baharuddin had already died.
“The case has been classified as sudden death,” said Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid.
It is learnt that the event was organised by the Seberang Perai Tengah Youth office.
